The Top 3 Most Popular Uses For Medical Marijuana At this point, only 6% of medical studies about marijuana are analyzing its medicinal properties. It seems there are at least 2 active chemicals with medicinal applications in this plant. These chemicals are cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). While CBD impacts the brain without the high, the THC provides the high and pain relief, plus other properties. With that being said, let’s have a look at the top 3 most popular uses for medical marijuana. Marijuana Can Be Used to Treat Glaucoma The eye disease known as glaucoma causes the pressure in the eyeball to increase. This damages the optic nerve and ends up in loss of vision. Marijuana can be used to treat and prevent glaucoma, as it decreases the pressure in the eye, according to the National Eye Institute. The effects of marijuana slow down the way the disease …

Is Smoking Marijuana Bad for Your Lungs

icon  18 Jan, 2016  /  icon  4        Author: Support Pot Valet

In spite of all the health benefits medical marijuana has to offer us, scientists and medical professionals have always wondered if smoking marijuana will damage our lungs. After all, we know for sure that smoking in general (cigarettes or tobacco) can have a negative impact over the lungs; so perhaps the smoke of marijuana also does. However, according to a study conducted at Emory University, this may not be the case. A NHANES (National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys) cross sectional-analysis discovered that adults between 18 and 59 years old, who smoked one joint (a marijuana cigarette) a day, were able to exhale the same FEV1 (forced expiratory volume, also known as the expiratory volume of air), in one second. Spirometry, which measures a person’s ability to exhale, is the method through which doctors diagnose respiratory illnesses that impair lung function. It was the method applied to the subjects involved …

3 Big Marijuana Myths Busted

icon  16 Jan, 2016  /  icon  3        Author: Support Pot Valet

Cannabis opponents have, for decades, controlled the message around this popular plant, and have spread a few lies about its actual effects. This caused the use of marijuana to be a stigmata, a cause with effects that haven’t still worn off. The failed and expensive US war on drugs continues, and it seems the criminalization of cannabis users and distributors is a main priority in this war. Some of the governmental agencies continue to stubbornly classify marijuana as dangerous and with no medical value, in spite of the stacks of evidence that prove the contrary. While many know the truth about cannabis (that it is more effective than some prescription drugs in treating some illnesses and that it is healthier than alcohol) and while more than half of Americans want it legalized, the marijuana myths are still around in some mainstream circles. Those who oppose legalization are determined to ignore …

The Recent Science Behind Medical Marijuana

icon  14 Jan, 2016  /  icon  1        Author: Support Pot Valet

Until now, almost half of the states in America have legalized medical marijuana. However, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not regulated it since the drugs remain at the federal level. This forces medical users to search for treatment by themselves. There are thousands of years since humans have used cannabis, yet only in the past few decades have science professionals begun to really have a grasp on how the wide range of chemicals in cannabis function for the human health. Ingredients in Medical Marijuana Among other ingredients, in marijuana, there are at least 104 active cannabinoids.  These mimic the action of the brain’s signaling chemicals, which are known as endocannabinoids. These dock with some of the receptors that are situated on the surface of cells. For example, some of the cannabinoids dock with the receptors of adrenaline and serotonin. The most famous chemical in marijuana is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, also …

Medical Marijuana in Santa Barbara

icon  31 Dec, 2015  /  icon  0        Author: Support Pot Valet

Since August 2015, the Medical Marijuana Santa Barbara Program has benefited from one approved Medical Marijuana Dispensary, located in the Outer State Street area. More than this, Santa Barbara has two more pending applications: one in the Upper De la Vina region, another in the Milpas region. The city of Santa Barbara needs to take action before March 1, 2016 if it really wants to manage its dispensaries. Governor Jerry Brown signed 3 laws in October that have to do with the cultivation, transport and also the selling of medical marijuana in Santa Barbara. They would not substitute for local laws that municipalities make before the deadline. As the suggested ordinance is created at this point, Santa Barbara will permit as much as 3 dispensaries yet no commercial farming. Just citizens with a doctor’s notice can cultivate medical marijuana at home. There are as much as 25, 000 medical marijuana patients in the South County, Howe stated, however it is going to be important to not grow very rapidly. The Architectural Board of Review has recently approved the proposal for the Milpas region, and the application for 2609 De la Vina St. continues to be criticized. Medical Marijuana Santa Barbara …

Marijuana and Cancer Treatment

Those interested in marijuana cancer treatment should have a look over the next few paragraphs, and see what this miraculous plant can do. Marijuana has been used as an herbal remedy for centuries. Scientists have discovered cannabinoids, the biologically active components in marijuana, to be biologically active and effective in treating some diseases, including cancer. At present, the US Drug Enforcement Administration has listed marijuana and the cannabinoids under the Schedule I controlled substances, which means is only legal to treat some of the medical conditions in many states. Marijuana and Cancer Treatment Studies Several scientific studies of smoked marijuana discovered that it could be useful in dealing with vomiting and nausea from the cancer treatment of chemotherapy. A number of reports have discovered that inhaled (used to smoke or perhaps vaporized) marijuana could possibly help in the therapy of neuropathic pain (aches brought on by damaged nerves). Testing has also proved that smoked marijuana has also helped improve the diet in HIV sufferers. Research has long demonstrated that individuals who used marijuana extract in medical testing tended to require much less pain medication. Can Marijuana Help Treat Glaucoma? It is estimated, according to World Health Organization, that glaucoma is the second cause of blindness and about half of Americans with glaucoma are not even aware of it. Studies reveal that glaucoma could be genetic, yet science continues to be uncertain on what causes glaucoma to build and worsen. It’s been debatable over the last several years whether or not marijuana can help treat glaucoma, let’s look at some facts below and  put this discussion to rest. How Does Marijuana Impact Glaucoma? What has been discovered is that, together with other treatments, marijuana has significantly diminished vision loss caused by glaucoma. Usually, what causes glaucoma is pressure in the eye. Studies have shown some chemicals in marijuana have the positive effects of reducing the intra-ocular pressure, also known as IOP, by as much as 25%. Some would say this is an insignificant gain when you are thinking of the side effects of marijuana, but that …

Relaxed Cannabis Drug Laws benefit Tourism in Colorado

icon  11 Dec, 2015  /  icon  0        Author: Support Pot Valet

Business owners in Colorado have claimed for a while now that legalization of the cannabis drug has improved tourism in the area, but now there is proof. It has been found in a recent study by the Colorado Tourism Office that many tourists are drawn to Colorado due to its relaxed weed laws and due to the easy accessibility to the substance. For a long time, it had been suggested that the increase in visitors was due to the marketing campaigns put in place, but the study shows that contrary to this belief, the increased marketing spending has not caused the tourism industry to succeed. Ad Campaign And Marijuana Dispensaries Responsible For Tourism Rise   More than 48% of the time, it was found that tourists cited that Colorado’s relaxed laws on cannabis were the main attraction although the ad campaign has been relatively successful. Interesting Facts About Marijuana That You Should Know

There Is No Evidence That Young People Will Be Affected By Relaxing Marijuana Laws Many people who oppose the legalization of recreational or even medical marijuana often try to make the claim that adolescents and young people will suffer as a result of the slacker laws. It has actually been proven however in the states where marijuana has already been legalized that this simply isn’t the case. If anything, there has been a decrease in marijuana abuse amongst younger adults in those states. This is probably because of the legalization taking away the glamor and taboo from the substance and greater availability via legitimate means such as marijuana dispensaries. The decriminalization of marijuana in these states has also seen a decline in the numbers of marijuana-related crimes committed by adults. Marijuana Is Certainly Not A Gateway Drug Most people who have used marijuana for recreational or medicinal use have never …

Cannabis Drug Not Likely Cause For Traffic Accidents

Colorado made the decision to legalize the cannabis drug for its residents in 2012. The opposition to the vote predicted an increase in those driving under the influence of marijuana and in turn an increase in traffic accidents whilst under the influence of the drug. Some claim that the substance can cause response times to suffer and that the user’s judgment may become impaired when under the influence. According to statistics published when cannabis was first legalized in Colorado in 2001, there was a spike in traffic accidents involving drivers who had tested positive for marijuana, which campaigners attribute to the relaxed laws. Pot supporters, however argue that before marijuana was legalized, a third of drivers involved in accidents tested positive for marijuana anyway. Whilst some argue that giving medical access to marijuana simply leaves the market open to abuse from those who want to use it for recreational use, there is plenty of research to show that it has many useful medical properties. Bob Marley, who was well known for composing and singing numerous memorable hits in the reggae style was remembered earlier this year to mark the occasion. Herbs From Nature, The Planet’s Natural Medical Dispensary One of the most memorable traits of Marley was how he publicly spoke out about Medical Marijuana and how much he believed in its many healing benefits. A marijuana support group who are broadcasting the clip on major channels until the decision is made on bill HB 507 backs the advert. These are the two most common diseases that affect the musculoskeletal system. They consist in bone deformations that cause quite unpleasant pain to the patients and distort their everyday activities.
