Master Kush

Master-Kush1

Master Kush Strain

Master Kush is an immensely popular strain that does not disappoint. It is an Indica dominant cross between two landraces. Master Kush induces a strong hit that is not overpowering and is most often described as relaxing and positive. The strain is bred by Dutch White Label Seed Company (a variation is also bred by Nirvana Seeds) located in Amsterdam. During maturation, the plant produces a subtle citrus smell with a hint of rose, which is often described as a vintage flavor. Master Kush, a strain originally named High Rise, initially gained its popularity in Amsterdam coffee shops as a unique tetraploid strain. Most cannabis strains are diploid. They have two sets of chromosomes, one from each parent in each cell. Tetraploid strains carry four times the number of haploid chromosomes, making a total of eight sets. This 80% Indica dominant strain won the Cannabis Cup in 1992 and 1993, which is the equivalent of a marijuana World Cup, the most prestigious award that can be given. Master Kush can be commonly found recreationally and medically and is a classic strain. Master Kush is a cross between the true Hindu Kush and a Skunk. The strain flowers for around 63 to 70 days. Master Kush grows best indoors or in a greenhouse, where it can produce up to 400 grams per plant. The problem lies in the fact that there are so many variations and crosses of this legendary strain and so many “imposters” that finding “true” master Kush can be a little more difficult. The THC content of this strain ranges between 16-20%, making it moderately potent.

Why do Patients Use Master Kush?

As a powerful Indica dominant strain Master Kush is perfect for pain, stress, eating disorders and insomnia. It is swift to induce munchies and couchlock and is powerful without being completely overwhelming, though it is still best used in the evenings and may not be the best social strain. It is far too relaxing as opposed to energizing. But users do note that this strain is wonderful for inducing creativity, so small amounts might be appropriate for pursuing certain types of artistic or creative endeavors. It is also good if you need to relax and focus on a more logical task.
