Types of Pain Cannabis Treats Effectively

Around 50 million people wake up to some form of recognized pain in the United States every day. That is a lot of weed delivery. These are statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and it shows just how prevalent pain is, a veritable plague affecting the nation. Treating pain is outright scary, with side effects of common painkillers addictive, ineffective, and frequently deadly.

Effect of Cannabis on Pain

Marijuana offers a new therapeutic pathway for the treatment of pain. All kinds of pain. Not all is the same, with some worse than others, and then some having differing causes. However, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, the various and many cannabinoids with analgesic properties in marijuana effectively target all types of pain:

  • Chronic Pain

Chronic pain defines as a persistent pain ongoing for many months, possibly years, often lifelong. It is expectable, familiar, and near constant, often debilitating and preventing normal life for victims. Cannabis, according to WebMD, particularly when used on a regular basis, provides long-term relief from chronic pain. It does so safely, effectively, and without any of the dangers of prescribed analgesics.

  • Inflammatory Pain

The anti-inflammatory effects of both tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, and cannabidiol, or CBD, as well as many other cannabinoids, like cannabigerol, or CBG, and terpenoids. Cannabis has been a go-to solution for inflammation for hundreds of years, in all cultures across the globe. Many studies, like this one in Science Daily, prove cannabis highly effective as a mid- to high-level painkiller.

  • Neuropathic Pain

The ability of cannabinoids to treat neuropathic pain in a safe and effective way is truly a wonder for those with this condition. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, the central nervous system is reliant on healthy function. Neuropathic pain, result of many different causes, can be especially debilitating for patients. Marijuana proves extremely effective in all studies conducted.

  • Acute Pain

There exists plenty of evidence highlighting the role of cannabinoids in treating acute pain, whatever its cause, injury or illness. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, marijuana works in two ways, by relieving the inflammatory response to the trigger and by altering pain perception, and it does so almost immediately, without any addictive or harmful long-term effects.

  • Musculoskeletal Pain

Some of the most heinous pain is musculoskeletal. Joint pain, muscular issues, mobility problems. Consequences are dire for sufferers indeed. Fortunately, according to the U. S. National Library of Medicine, cannabinoids relieve all sorts of musculoskeletal issues, most notably related pain. This is why professional sportspeople are now using and advocating for cannabinoid therapy for muscular pain.

  • Bone Pain

Deep, bone-chilling pain is intense, stopping everything in its tracks. Whether from cancer or something less sinister, bone pain can be extremely debilitating. However, according to The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, cannabinoids have better efficacy, certainly more, and effectiveness than commonly prescribed drugs for pain relief. It is safer and works better.
